My Reasons for Becoming an Educator
I began working with children as a Kindergarten small-group leader at my local church. The moment I stepped foot into that classroom was the moment I knew I had discovered my passion. I was hired into Rochester Community Schools and worked in a PreK classroom for three years, where I learned the true value of early intervention with young children. I have sense become trained thoroughly in the High/Scope curriculum. I strongly believe in the importance of active learning. Children need to move, touch, hear, see, taste, and feel their environment in order to truly become knowledgeable and gain a thorough understanding of the world around them. I love working with the High/Scope curriculum because children are absorbing so much information while having fun and unknowingly growing in their approaches to learning, social and emotional development, fine and gross motor skills, mathematics, arts, understanding of science and technology, and language and literacy skills. |
